City Tour St.Petersburg

Palace Square situated in the heart of St Petersburg, it is the main square of the city, adored by its residents and guests. It’s one of the most beautiful architectural ensembles of the world. Best Russian architects worked on its creation. The name of the square comes from the Winter Palace, former imperial residence. The square was formed in the second half of the 18th — the first half of the 19th centuries. It’s 5,4 hectares in size and is surrounded by the cultural and historical monuments, such as Winter Palace, Guard Headquarters Building,General Staff Building with the Triumph Arch. In the centre of the square you can see the Alexander Column of 47,5 meters high with ángel.

Nowadays Palace square is the centre of all public events and concerts, held in St Petersburg.

Also we will see The Isaak Cathedral, Fully restored inside and out, St. Isaac’s is one of the world’s largest and most ornate cathedrals. The interior is adorned with gold trim, mosaics and paintings. Designed by Auguste de Montferrand and built between 1818 and 1858 the church was named in tribute to Peter the Great ,who was born on the day of St. Isaac of Dalmatia. If it is a clear day we recommend climbing to the dome’s top,the panoramic view is spectacular! There is an amazing Church in St.Petersburg!Officially consecrated as the Church of the Resurrection of Christ, the Russian Orthodox gem more commonly known as the Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood was built to honor Tsar Alexander II of Russia, who was assassinated at the site where the church now sits, hence the referen ce to “spilled blood”. The section of the street on which the assassination took place is enclosed within the walls of the church, and the site of the murder is marked by a chapel in the building.

At the request of Alexander III, construction on the church began in 1883.

Peter and Paul Fortress.

The Peter and Paul Fortress has a fascinating history beginning in the early 1700 s.Under the orders of Peter the Great, the Peter and Paul Fortress was started during the Northern War against Sweden,to regain lands on the Neva Banks and the Baltic shore.

The fortress was used for defense few times. In 1718 the fortress became a state political prison when Peter’s 28 year-old rebellious son was imprisoned in the Trubetskoy Bastion and beaten to death there.

Today, the whole fortress is a museum,as decreed in 1924 by the Soviet government. It certainly has changed over time.

The main building in the Fortress is the Peter and Paul Cathedral,

with its 122.5 meter (+400 foot) tall gilded spiral with a golden angel perched on top. The cathedral, designed by Domenico Trezzini, is one of the city’s most important landmarks.

Other buildings onsite include the Grand Ducal Mausoleum, where several more-recent grand dukes and duchesses have been interred; the small Boat House, where you can buy tickets to access the cathedral; the House of the Commander, where the commanding officer of the fortress lived; the Mint, one of only two in Russia where coins and medals are made; and the City Museum (in the engineer’s house), which provides some interesting background on the history of St. Petersburg.

We will see the Royal Place-a low platform covered with crimson velvet. That is where the royal family stood during the ceremony.

City Tour Kronstadt

Throughout the history of Kronstadt, an impregnable and unique fortification system was created around it, the first link of which was Fort Kronshlot, from which the history of the Russian city on the island of Kotlin actually began in 1703. Of particular interest and popularity became the forts “Peter 1” (Citadel), “Alexander 1” (Plague), “Grand Duke Konstantin”, “Pavel 1” , “Totleben”, , etc. Currently, some of them are available for viewing and visiting as part of a boat trip, and Fort Konstantin as part of a city tour. Following the first forts, the construction of a fortress along the perimeter of the city and port began, first wooden, then stone. Few surviving sections of the fortress walls and other fortifications can be seen today in the central part of the city.

All the most important sights in Kronstadt are somehow connected with the fleet. For the sailors and at their request, the St. Nicholas Naval Cathedral was erected – a pearl of temple architecture of the early 20th century. The cathedral is located in the heart of the city and is the tallest building, its central dome, like a lighthouse, is visible from anywhere on the island and far beyond. The cathedral is richly decorated from the inside, along the perimeter of the lower tier there are memorial plates with the names of those who died especially distinguished sailors from the moment the fleet was founded. You can also climb three more tiers, the last of which is located under the very dome, and there a circular view of the entire city opens. Opposite the main entrance to the temple is the Admiralty Park, which is also part of the Patriot Park. The territory is a former warehouses, factories and workshops for the needs of shipbuilding, where they plan to place expositions after the completion of the restoration, there are already expositions of old anchors, various equipment, alleys with busts of fleet admirals, as well as an apple orchard planted more than a hundred years ago. Also on Anchor Square is a monument to the famous Admiral Makarov and an eternal flame.

The most famous of the communities around St. Petersburg is Peterhof with fountains and Parks!

The Main Palace, majestic and elegant ,the former residence of Peter the First, stands at the edge of the second terrace, its bright yellow walls contrasting with white stucco decorations and the gilt domes of its lateral wings. On the north the building commands a view of the Grand Cascade, a grandiose structure including a grotto, 64 fountains, and two cascading staircases, which lead to an enormous semicircular basin that contains a giant statue of Samson wrestling with a lion.

Peterhof forms a unified UNESCO Word Heritage Site.
